THE NAME

(STARTUP)

Several reasons led us to FLORALIA HONEY SPAIN. After searching for it for a while, it became clear to us that this denomination was the one with which we most identified.

The first thing we liked about the name is that it winks at the paternal family, from which the trade has been inherited. The Alía family. In Spain, we can boast of having an exquisite honey, coveted by all. For this reason, we also wanted to make it clear, without having to look at the label, that our honey is Spanish.

Another curiosity that led us to be clear that this was the ideal name for our honey, we find it in Roman mythology. Flora was the Goddess of Flowers and Spring. Honey is considered a gift that the Goddess has granted to the Human Being. It was consecrated on April 28 in honor of the Goddess Flora. Being the 28th of April Emy's birthday. One more detail that strengthened the choice of Floralia Honey. 


On April 28, the festival of the Goddess Flora was celebrated, receiving this festival the name of Floralia. During the acts that were carried out, honey was offered to the Goddess, to ask her to protect the crops.

The honey extracted in an artisanal way, and packaged without any treatment, preserving the essence that the bees have collected from nature, is raw honey (real honey). Direct from the honeycomb to the boats. This is the only way to keep all its antioxidant, vitamin and enzymatic components intact. They are the ones that make honey real honey 


If they are altered, modified and/or destroyed, the honey will no longer be honey and will become a simple viscous and sweet substance. That it doesn't have to be bad if it passes all the health checks, but honey, it will only have the name. 


There are doubts about the origin and composition of many of the honeys on the market, and the current labeling does not help. This negatively affects the identification and value of authentic honey, which is lost in the imposture like tears in the rain.

The identity and quality of our honey are the main assets of the Startup, but we try to ensure that the corporate image and packaging can live up to it, trying to communicate seriousness and commitment.

We keep some reminiscences of the past, but we take off the corset to live our time. The possibilities are endless and not playing with them would mean being where you always were.

Honey has traditionally been a product outside the large market circuits. In such a way that the action through marketing and branding was very limited and not as decisive as the profile of our potential client, generally with a culture of honey, and therefore with a minimum of knowledge and demands.

We sold boats if our client was an intrepid and persistent seeker of small hidden treasures, who valued the figure of the Beekeeper, and who did not speculate on the quality of essential products. 

 

We basically depended on the minimalist client finding us. While that was happening, we continued to supply wholesalers as our other commercial activity.

Now we are the ones who go out to look for the client, penetrating those circuits that have been restricted and little informed until now. To a large extent, thanks to the facilities of the different media, for visibility and access, in a clear gastronomic commitment to the author, artisan and genuine product, ancestrally cloistered in very specific areas. 


We have managed to have a digital presence on platforms such as El Corte Inglés and Productos de Extremadura, among others. And physical presence in different parts of Spain, and in other countries such as Germany or Qatar within gourmet channels through salons and theme fairs.

(A PERFECTE WORLD)

Beekeeping is a profession as fascinating as it is burdensome. We daily face three major problems with no easy solution: The loss of the bee population due to the disappearance and deterioration of habitats, institutional obstacles to transhumance, and unfair competition from Asia. Socrates said: "Life without examination is not worth living."

 

We face the future with determination and optimism, trying to maintain what has been achieved and continue to evolve. Without forgetting what made us come to Floralia Miel, which was the illusion and the desire to give our production a perspective more in line with its quality.
